The canvass of the November 7 Municipal Elections shows that Amy Knott-Jespersen officially posted a five-vote win over Joe Christman for one of two available seats on Price City Council. The tally on election day showed Knott-Jespersen leading by just one vote, pending the counting of provisional ballots and any outstanding mail-in ballots.
According to the Election Summary Report from the Carbon County Clerk’s Office, Knott-Jespersen finished with 733 votes, or 27.06 percent, compared to Christman’s 728 votes, or 26.87 percent. She will take the seat on the council currently occupied by Kathy Hanna-Smith, who is retiring from public life. Terry Willis was reelected to retain the other council position.
Along with the new Mayor Michael Kourianos, the city council members will take the oath of office at noon on Tuesday, January 2 in the city council chamber at Price City Hall.
