Another tournament brought hundreds of players and fans to Price over the weekend. The Carbon County Fairgrounds baseball complex was the site of the “Monster Mash” girls fast-pitch tournament Friday and Saturday. Sponsored by the Carbon County Recreation Department, the event featured 19 teams including six local squads: Carbon Rush, Castle Valley Mischief, Carbon Wood, Utah Breakers, Diamond Diva, and Carbon Xtreme.
Carbon Recreation Director Frank Ori said the tournament generated $9,000, and after costs for umpires, concessions, prizes and a donation to USU Eastern, the event netted $2,000 for the rec department. He noted, “These tournaments really put our community on the map and stimulate tourism, which helps the economy.”
The winner in the 12 & under bracket was Synergy of Salem, Utah. The Rowdy Katz from North Salt Lake took the 14 & under tournament championship, and Utah Adrenaline of West Jordan won the 18 & under tournament title.
