Price City prides itself on offering residents a safe, fun and cost-effective place to live. Each department of the city is committed to providing the community with the best service possible.
The Human Resource Department decreased insurance costs by $13,400/ year over the last year through active policy management. They participated in the employee “Adopt-a-Street” cleaning program and sponsored and facilitated several wellness activities throughout the community.
With over 1,000 arrests made and over 1,010 citations issued, the Price City Police Department and Police Chief Kevin Drolc are devoted to the safety of the citizens. The department investigated 306 traffic accidents and completed over 2,000 incident reports while responding to 9,873 dispatched incidents. For several years now, the department has also hosted the Regional Crisis Intervention Team Academy to aid in training local law enforcement and the surrounding counties.
Also dedicated to local safety, the fire department, under the direction of Fire Chief Paul Bedont, has obtained various grant funding to provide a new type-6 fire engine to replace the departments thirty-six-year-old engine as well as much-needed wildland firefighting equipment. All firefighters are trained to Firefighter 11 level with Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations levels and all are certified at the Wildland Firefighter 1 status. An added benefit to the community is that seventy percent of firefighters are certified EMTs and two are Advanced EMTs.
Safety comes first in the Water and Sewer Department, which has gone seven years without a recordable accident. Last year they treated over 730 million gallons of water at the treatment plant and assisted in the promotion of water conservation and the “drew drop” character. Some of their duties consist of completing water line repairs, line inspections, blue stakes, meter installations and removal, and water quality analysis. They have completed Phase 11 of the Atwood Ball Park water line project. Price City presented this department with the “most thespian” recognition for the 4th year in a row.
The Price City Library is full of fun facts, including being able to inter-library loan any book the library doesn’t own.
