Carbon County Department of Recreation

The mission of Carbon Rec is to provide recreation and lifelong learning opportunities to every resident of the county.
We attempt to keep costs as low as possible in all programs. Thanks to the County Commission and Carbon School District fees are half that of many other communities.
People who are involved in wholesome recreational activities are happier and better adjusted than people who are not. We do not give cash prizes nor banquets. Prizes for league champions are modest. Participation and fun is always our emphasis, not winning.
Our goal is to exceed the expectations of every participant in every program. While that is not always possible, that is always our goal. If we come up short, we want to hear from you. While complaining does no one any good, constructive criticism can be productive and is always welcome.
While we expect everyone to contribute, we will never turn a child away from any of our programs for inability to pay. If you can’t afford a program for your child, ask us. We may be able to help.
We are always looking to broaden our offerings. It is our pledge to offer anything that fits within our mission and that the community will support. If you want to do something, call us. If you have a talent you would like to share with the community, call us. We are always open to new ideas.
Sports
Carbon Rec offers a wide variety of sports for youth and adults. Some youth sports we offer are Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Tball, Coach Pitch, Flag Football, Tennis and many more. Adult sports are Coed and Women’s Volleyball; Men’s, Women’s and Coed Softball; Men’s Basketball and more.
Rentals
Carbon Rec offers a variety of inventory for rent. We have anything from 15’ Rafts, Inflatable Kayaks, Canoes, Life Jackets to Hiking backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, harnesses to Ice skates, cross country skis, snow shoes and so on.
Tours
Carbon Rec offers Tours to different History and Archaeological sites. We have the best tour guides around, who will gladly take you and show you the wonders of 9-Mile Canyon, Range Creek Canyon & the San Rafael Swell.
North Springs Shooting Range
As one of the best Shooting Ranges in the state, we have a TON of cool stuff to offer! Long Range venues, Law Enforcement Range, Archery Range, 3-D Archery and our famous Cowboy Town! If you’ve never experienced our shooting range, now is the time.
Fairgrounds
We offer some of the best venues in the state at our facilities. We have an indoor riding arena, stalls, roping arena, main arena, fishing pond, ice skate pond, softball complex and an events center that can host all sorts of things.
Event Center
Centrally located in Utah’s Rural Castle County welcomes the Carbon County’s Event Center. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, we have the place for you. Our facility has the modern look and feel of a big city architecture setting but has the rural ambience and a panoramic view that’s worth seeing.
The facility has the capabilities to host large scale conferences, banquets, expositions, music performances, trade shows and we also provide for small scale meetings, and seminars.
We are equipped with advanced wireless room filling audio and visual projection systems adaptable to many applications. We can also provide telephone and internet communications.
