No one was injured but there were some anxious moments when a school bus made contact with a downed power line at 333 West 2000 South, also known as Robertson Lane, Thursday afternoon. A witness told emergency responders a green and white semi-truck snagged the line, which left it hanging on the road. The driver immediately informed his supervisor of the incident.
According to Sheriff’s Office reports, the live power line got caught on the driver side mirror and was draped over the top of a Carbon School District bus that followed behind the truck. When the power line started arcing on top of the bus the driver stopped and instructed the students to remain in place.
Rocky Mountain Power crews quickly arrived and disconnected and removed the line at about 4:00 p.m.
The investigation determined the semi-trailer was within the acceptable height limit on a secondary road. The power company speculated the power line from the pole that goes to a house could have come lose and caused the wire to sag.
