The Pinnacle High School girls’ volleyball team lost its match against Green River High School in three straight sets on Wednesday.
The Panthers started off strong in the first set, taking an early lead against the Pirates. Despite the Pirates capitalizing on errors by the Panthers and taking the lead, Pinnacle was able to tie the set at 11. However, Green River went on a scoring spree and took a commanding lead. The Pirates won the first set 25-15.
Green River took that momentum into the second set, and despite keeping the game close early on, the Panthers were not able to keep up with the Pirates’ scoring pace. Pinnacle lost the second set 25-10.
In the third and decisive set, Pinnacle once again was able to keep up the pace early. However, Green River took a lead and did not look back, cruising to a 25-13 win in the set, sealing the fate of the match.
Pinnacle will look to rebound quickly from the loss, as the Panthers travel to play at Escalante High School on Friday. The Panthers will return home to play Wendover High School on Tuesday.
