Carbon girl’s soccer lost in a close game to Delta 1-0 on September 5th at home. Though this is their first region loss, coach Cynthia Lancaster feels optimistic. “Delta is a very good team and probably the best team we’ve faced. Although we’re disappointed to lose, we are happy with the way that we played,” she said. As a result of the sports realignment, Carbon teams are playing opponents that they have not faced before. This season will require teams to adjust their play to new adversaries.
A standout performance came from goalkeeper Kelsey Sorenson. She made difficult saves and limited Delta’s scoring potential. Grace Broadbear led the team from the center of the field. “She made great passes, played great defense and gave it all she had,” Lancaster added.
On Sept. 12 Carbon girls traveled to Juab. They will go to Union on today before returning home to play against Providence Hall on Sept. 19.
