Southeastern Region fishing report

Abajo Mountains: Monticello Lake was stocked with catchable rainbow trout, as well as fingerling tiger trout, several times this summer. Try using spinners, worms and PowerBait to catch them. (09-01-17)
Academy Mill Reservoir: Anglers are catching trout using spinners, woolly buggers and traditional baits. The reservoir was stocked with 3,000 tiger trout on June 28. (08-17-17)
Benches Pond: The pond was stocked with about 2,500 rainbow trout this summer, most recently on Aug. 9. The trout averaged more than nine inches in length. Try using nightcrawlers, spinners or PowerBait to catch them. (09-01-17)
Boulger Reservoir: The reservoir was stocked several times this summer. The most recent stocking happened Aug. 9, when 1,200 rainbow trout were released. Spinners, PowerBait and worms are a safe bet to catch fish here. (09-01-17)
Carbon County Community Fishing Pond: Anglers are catching rainbow trout and bluegill on worms, PowerBait and red salmon eggs. (09-01-17)
Cleveland Reservoir: The reservoir was stocked with more than 4,000 10-inch rainbow trout this summer. Try using worms, PowerBait, Jake’s Spin-A-Lures or soft hackle flies to catch them. (09-01-17)
Duck Fork Reservoir: Anglers fishing in the mornings are catching a few tiger trout and a lot of cutthroat trout between 11 and 17 inches long. A bead head black/copper soft hackle fly, on a size 6 hook, has produced the best. The temperature at the reservoir is still somewhat high, but fishing may pick up as temperatures start to drop. On Aug. 18, the reservoir received 1,500 tiger trout that averaged five inches long. These fish will likely reach a catchable size going into fall and winter. (09-01-17)
Electric Lake: Fishing for kokanee salmon will be closed from Sept. 10 through Nov. 30, to protect the salmon during their spawn. Until then, try trolling with pop gear, or dodgers with bright colors, to catch kokanee here. (09-01-17)
Ferron Creek: Anglers are catching brook trout, cutthroat trout and lots of rainbow trout using bead head buggers in black/orange and black/green combinations. Leech patterns in red and olive have also worked well. Many of the rainbow trout anglers are catching are about 16 inches long. (09-01-17)
Ferron Reservoir: Trout are biting on bead head buggers in black/orange and black/green, and leeches in red and olive. These flies have been especially effective for rainbow trout, but some cutthroat and brook trout are taking them too. Anglers have also had success using PowerBait. Spinners have been less effective lately; the fish will chase the spinners, but they seldom bite them. (08-17-17)
Gigliotti Pond: The pond was stocked with rainbow trout six times this summer. Try using worms or PowerBait to catch them. (09-01-17)
Gooseberry Reservoir: The reservoir was stocked three times this summer, most recently on July 27, with several thousand rainbow trout. The trout that were stocked were more than 10 inches long. Try using spinners and PowerBait to catch them. (09-01-17)
Grassy Lake: The lake was stocked four times this summer, most recently on July 17. Fishing should be good for rainbow trout using spinners, worms and PowerBait. Fishing for tiger trout should pick up during the fall. (09-01-17)
Huntington Game Farm Pond: The pond was most recently stocked on Aug. 22 with 500 rainbow trout. The rainbows averaged almost 11 inches in length. Try using worms or PowerBait to catch them. (09-01-17)
Huntington North Reservoir: Fishing for wiper should pick up soon as the temperature starts to drop. Try using spinners or crayfish crankbaits to catch them. The reservoir was stocked with 1,000 rainbow trout on Aug. 22. (09-01-17)
Huntington Reservoir: Fishing from a tube or a boat has been faster than fishing from shore. Anglers using crystal buggers, woolly buggers and leeches are catching tiger trout in 20 to 35 feet of water. Anglers should continue encountering lots of hungry tiger trout here. (09-01-17)
Knight-Ideal Community Fishing Pond: Fishing has been slow to fair. Try using worms or PowerBait to catch rainbow trout here. (09-01-17)
La Sal Mountains: Dons, Hidden, Oowah and Warner lakes in Grand County were stocked with rainbow trout in late July. Oowah and Warner lakes received another stocking of rainbow trout on Aug. 8. Try using worms, PowerBait or spinners to catch trout at these lakes. (08-17-17)
Lower Fish Creek: The creek was stocked with more than 17,000 brown trout on June 14. As the fish grow, try using woolly buggers, caddisflies and other nymph patterns to catch them. (08-17-17)
May Day Pond: The pond was stocked with almost 1,500 tiger trout on July 19. These fish will likely reach a catchable size during the fall. (09-01-17)
Miller Flat Reservoir: The reservoir was stocked on June 12 with more than 21,000 rainbow trout. The rainbows averaged almost five inches in length. These fish will likely reach a catchable size during the fall. (09-01-17)
Millsite Reservoir & State Park: Construction on the dam has led to a significantly lower water level. Boating is not recommended: the launch ramp is out of the water, leaving boaters with only muddy access to the reservoir. Despite the low water level, there are still plenty of fish to catch. Try using a Jake’s Spin-A-Lure, worms or PowerBait to catch trout here. (09-01-17)
Petes Hole: This small reservoir received several thousand rainbow and tiger trout this summer. The most recent stocking happened July 17. Fishing for rainbow trout should be good using spinners, worms and PowerBait. Tiger trout fishing should pick up as the tigers grow this fall. (09-01-17)
Potters Ponds: The ponds were stocked with several thousand rainbow trout this summer. Try using spinners, PowerBait and worms to catch them. Soft hackle flies or bead head or woolly buggers should also work well. (09-01-17)
Scofield Reservoir: Anglers are catching chub in the dam arm of the reservoir using PowerBait and worms. Fingerling wiper and tiger muskie have been released here. The wiper and tiger muskie should grow quickly and reach a catchable size by winter. The reservoir was also stocked with more than 143,000 catchable cutthroat trout this summer. Try using spinners to catch them. (09-01-17)
Soup Bowl: The reservoir was most recently stocked on July 17 with 600 rainbow trout. The rainbows were more than nine inches long. Try using worms or PowerBait to catch them. (09-01-17)
Willow Lake: The lake was stocked several times this summer. The most recent stocking involved more than 650 rainbow trout that were almost 10 inches long. Tiger trout have also been stocked. The tigers will likely reach a catchable size as winter approaches. (09-01-17)
Wrigley Springs Reservoir: The reservoir was stocked with several thousand rainbow and tiger trout this summer. Try using spinners, worms and PowerBait to catch them. Fishing should pick up as the water temperature cools. (09-01-17)
