Carbon High drill team sponsored their sixth annual color run. Entrants ran a 5K starting at the high school and ending at the school’s baseball field. As entrants jogged through the course, drill team members threw color on them. At the end, everyone received a packet of color to throw. Over 100 runners were willing to wear an outfit that could be ruined and join in the excitement.
“The drill team likes to do fundraisers that make our community a fun place to be. The color run is a really fun run because it is a family event. Boys, girls, grandmas, people in wheelchairs, parents pushing strollers and even dogs participated this year,” said Nicole Bennett, drill team head coach.
Next weekend on Sept. 9, the drill team will sponsor a first ever Little Miss Dino Pageant. Girls from preschool to 8th grade can participate for a chance to be a part of the little Dino royalty at homecoming. Each girl will compete with a 1-2 minute talent, spirit wear, party dress wear and an on-stage question.
Younger girls will begin competing at 4 p.m. and the older at 6 p.m. The judges will choose 4 winners. Registration is $45.
“We are thankful for the community and how much support they give to drill team. It is a year long sport, so it takes a lot of resources. The parents and community are amazingly helpful,” added Bennett.
