The numbers are slightly different but the outcomes remain the same after the canvass of the Municipal Primary and Special Congressional election of August 15.
The certified results were posted by the Carbon County Clerk’s office following the canvass of the election on August 24.
Michael Kourianos topped the field in the five-way race for Mayor of Price with a final tally of 388 votes. He will face Rick Adams in the general election. Adams garnered 211 votes in the primary. Incumbent Joe Piccolo finished with 145, followed by Rick Davis with 144 and Boyd Marsing with 142.
Four candidates will vie for two seats on the Price City Council this November. They are incumbent Terry Willis, Amy Knott-Jespersen, Joe Christman and Jesse Sloan. Willis was appointed to the city council in 2015 to replace Miles Nelson who accepted the position of Price City Public Works Director.
In East Carbon, the official results for mayor have Harry Goslin, Jr. with 168 votes, followed by incumbent Douglas Parsons with 67 and James Smith with 27. Goslin and Parsons will square off in the general election.
Six candidates were in the race for East Carbon City Council. Larry Wood topped the field with 156 votes. Karla C. Young was second with 130, followed by Donald McCarty III with 90 votes, and Philip Holt who received 86 votes. Ella Morris picked up 36 votes and Ronald E. Johnson tallied 25.
The top four will move on to the general election where two city council members will be elected.
Carbon County Republicans supported Chris Herrod in the race for the seat in Congress vacated by the resignation of Jason Chaffetz. Herrod picked up 371 votes, compared to 354 for John Curtis and 192 for Tanner Ainge. Curtis won the race overall with a lot of support from Utah County, and secured a place on the ballot for the General Election in November.
Of 10,783 registered voters in Carbon County, 1,659 cards were cast for a turnout of 15.39 percent.
