Gasoline prices are on the rise

    Utah, UT, August 21- Average retail gasoline prices in Utah have risen 3.8 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.60/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 1,171 gas outlets in Utah. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.32/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
    Including the change in gas prices in Utah during the past week, prices yesterday were 33.5 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 7.1 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 3.7 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 15.7 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
    According to GasBuddy historical data, gasoline prices on August 21 in Utah have ranged widely over the last five years:
$2.27/g in 2016, $2.76/g in 2015, $3.62/g in 2014, $3.71/g in 2013 and $3.53/g in 2012.
    Areas near Utah and their current gas price climate:
Provo- $2.54/g, up 6.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.48/g.
Ogden- $2.57/g, up 6.2 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.51/g.
Salt Lake City- $2.54/g, up 5.8 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.49/g.
    “While the sun may be fading away briefly today, the sun is certainly not setting on the impressive demand for gasoline we’ve seen thus far this summer,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.
