Jerry Howell

SUNNYSIDE-Jerry O’Neal Howell, 67, passed away suddenly August 13, 2017.
He was born January 31, 1950 in Fairfield, Alabama to Edwin O’Neal and Ruby Beatrice McDougal Howell. Jerry married Genelle Renee Phillips, June 27, 1977 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming; she preceded him in death on January 23, 2013.
Jerry was a longtime resident of Sunnyside where he worked at Kaiser and later retired from Deer Creek. For those who had the opportunity to know Jerry, knew he loved his family with a subtle yet unconventional way of showing it, but we all knew what he was trying to do or show us. His other loves were the outdoors and his pride and joy his 1930’s Ford Model-A. He was never one to sit idle very long, he was always traveling to car shows across the state, or if the weather was good you could find him on his float tube flipping a fly trying to catch that big one. In winter you could find him perfecting his art of fly tying (which he was very good at I might add). He tied a lot of flies and one of his favorite things to do was to give them away to all his fishing buddies, and his son. Jerry was loved by so many and taught many of us strength and patience that was unprecedented after his wife of 36 years passed from a long struggle with cancer, his strength shined brighter than ever. His love for his wife, two sons, and two grandsons was unconditional. He will forever be remembered with love and admiration by all the lives that he touched.
Jerry is survived by his boys, T. Shawn (Brianna) Howell, Chase B. Howell, both of Vernal, grandsons, Zachary K. and Memphis K. Howell, Price, in-laws, Boyd (Myrtle) Phillips, Gr. Jct., CO, sisters-in-law, Mary Howell, East Carbon, Twila (Mark) Berry, Pueblo, CO, Delores Phillips, Gr. Jct, CO, special nephew, Jeff Howell. Jerry is also survived by many other loving nieces, nephews and longtime friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Genelle Howell; sister, Annette Howell; and his brothers, Ralph, Ronald (Weed) and Randy Howell.
