Several thousand homes and businesses in a widespread area of Carbon County were without power for about an hour Sunday afternoon following an intense thunderstorm, which also produced localized flooding.
A spokesperson for Rocky Mountain Power said 3,185 customers in Price, Wellington and East Carbon were affected by the outage when a lightning strike at 5:03 p.m. caused the loss of a transmission line and tripped two substations.
Power was restored by about 6:00 p.m.
