The Helper Arts, Music & Film Festival begins this weekend. Along with the art booths on Main Street, the festival features a variety of workshops, entertainment, music, food, film showings and a car show.
In its 23rd year, the festival kicks off with a car show and gallery stroll Thursday night. The band, Los Hermanos de Los Andes, will entertain in the street as attendees stroll the local galleries and sample desserts created by Lyn Wells.
Booths along Main Street are open Friday from noon to dusk, Saturday from 10 a.m. to dusk and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Rio Theatre will feature public radio’s show, Radio West, productions from the Utah Film Center, university film departments, international and domestic short films. Kids will enjoy the art yard Friday and Saturday in the Wells Fargo parking lot from 2-6 p.m.
On Saturday, Bad Shakespeare will run throughout the day between the bowling alley and Marsha’s Sammich Shop-N-Bakery. This new addition to the festival features Utah State University Eastern students performing monologues and scenes. Water balloons and tomatoes will be on sale for festival attendees to throw at the actors.
