Burglary Prompts Reminder to Lock Vehicles

Police caught up with an auto burglary suspect Wednesday morning in the Sagewood area of northeast Price. City Officer Randy Salyer was dispatched to the 7:25 a.m. call of an auto burglary in progress. The suspect was described as a white adult female.
Carbon County Sheriff’s Deputy Tory Christiansen responded to assist on the call and intercepted 35-year-old Jennifer R. Johnson of Price at the corner of Sagewood Road and Cedar Hills Drive, and was joined there by Officer Salyer.
According to a news release from the Price Police Department, the officers issued a Miranda warning and interviewed the suspect. At that time she reportedly provided information and property connecting her to the reported auto burglary. Because of Johnson’s previous criminal history, she was booked on a felony level auto burglary and theft charge.
After Johnson’s booking, two additional reports of auto burglary were received regarding incidents in the same neighborhood. Following another interview and the recovery of stolen property among her belongings, she was charged in connection with those incidents as well.
According to court records, Johnson has 12 previous arrests, including convictions for felony level burglary and retail theft.
The investigation revealed that all vehicles that were targeted were left unlocked. The Price City Police Department would like to remind citizens to always lock their vehicles, even when parked at home, and to remove valuables and keys after securing their vehicles.
