KENILWORTH-Barbara Miller Dougherty, age 67, passed away peacefully at her home on June 3, 2017. She was born January 3, 1950 in Golden, Colorado to Nathan and Mary Schaffer Miller. Married the love of her life, John Dougherty on July 27, 1968 in Golden, Colorado.
Barbara was a longtime resident of Carbon County where she worked as a supervisor for the Southeastern Utah Association of Governments and the Golden Rule Mission in Helper. She was a member of the Methodist Church and a staunch member of the Daughters of the Nile. Barbara was a former member of the Eastern Star and an active supporter of many activities throughout the community.
Barbara enjoyed camping, swimming, gardening, hiking and cheering for her Denver Broncos. She loved caring for animals, listening to music and being a friend to all. Barbara will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, John S. Dougherty, Kenilworth; loving daughter, Heather A. Dougherty, Palm Springs, CA; sister, Ruth Ann (Brad) Bauer, Lakewood, CO; brother, Herbert Miller, North Carolina; and a community of friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, June 8, 2017, 3:00 p.m., at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main) in Price where the family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family suggests donations to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Barbara online at www.mitchellfunealhome.net
