Keep your kids busy, entertained with Sizzling Summer Fun

Looking for a way to keep kids engaged in family activities through the long summer vacation? The Sun Advocate’s Sizzling Summer Fun program kicks off on June 1, with over 40 activities to keep children entertained, active and involved in their community throughout the summer.
Participating businesses have partnered with the Sun Advocate to offer fun prizes, giveaways and an end-of-summer party for those who participate in Sizzling Summer Fun. It’s easy to get involved! All you have to do is engage in any or all of the activities listed in the booklet, available for pick-up at the Sun Advocate and all participating businesses, and take a photo, drawing, essay or other evidence of you completing an activity to the sponsoring business. Once your participation is approved, you will receive a sticker on the scoresheet on the back of your booklet.
Activities range in effort and difficulty, with everything from “Read a Book” and “Go Stargazing with a Friend” to “Go Camping” and “Practice Putting the Green.”
Prizes will be given for the most-completed workbooks at the end of the summer, along with student awards, and weekly cash and prizes giveaways. Be sure to check out the BONUS section of the workbook, and keep up with the Sun Advocate, where clues will be given for the weekly giveaways.
Kids of all ages are welcome to participate, but parents please be courteous when visiting businesses who have been so generous in their participation.
Sizzling Summer Fun is part of the Sun Advocate’s K.I.D.S. (Kids Involved and Determined to Succeed) program, which has been designed to keep children healthy and become more part of the community in which they live. The activities in the booklet encourage kids to get out, be active and enjoy the beautiful area in which we live.
