Following an investigation by the Carbon Metro Drug Task Force, two people have been arrested for allegedly dealing drugs out of a home in the Westwood Subdivision where seven children reside. A large amount of drugs was seized during a search of the home, along with cash, a weapon, and a slot machine.
According to a news release, the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. unit made the initial entry into the home at about 2:00 a.m. Friday, securing everyone present, including two adults and seven juveniles.
The two adults were identified as 41-year old Mark Terry Quintana, and his purported girlfriend, 22-year old Candace Gaylene Allen. The news release said the juveniles were released to family members, but could face a number of juvenile referral charges once the agents have reviewed the case.
During the search, agents located and seized approximately 15 ounces of marijuana, 3 ounces of heroin, 40 grams of mushrooms, liquid and pill form steroids, numerous items of paraphernalia, $6,000 cash, a loaded 9 mm derringer pistol, and a fully operational slot machine that appears to have been altered to accommodate gambling for drugs.
Quintana and Allen were both booked into the Carbon County Jail on felony charges of Child Endangerment, Possession With Intent to Distribute Heroin, Marijuana, and Psilocybin Mushrooms, as well as misdemeanor charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Anabolic Steroids, and Possession of a Gambling Device. Quintana was also booked on a felony charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Restricted Person.
According to court records, Quintana has 15 prior arrests with 12 convictions, including eight felonies. His prior offenses include assault, D.U.I., unlawful sexual conduct with a 16 or 17 year old, failure to have required ignition interlock device, and drug offenses.
Allen has six prior arrests with four convictions. Her offenses include misdemeanor charges of theft, assault, and D.U.I.
