Carbon Track concludes season at Championships
Carbon High School’s own Sarah Ohlwiler earned a 3A State Title in girls’ long jump at the Track and Field State Chamionships last week, held at Clarence Robison Track – BYU. Ohlwiler finished in first place at 17 feet, 6.25 inches. She also finished in fourth place in the girls’ 100 meter hurdles final with a time of 15.63.
Other results at the State Championships included the Carbon High School girls’ medley team finishing in fourth place with a time of 4:20.77; Sadie Crompton finishing in sixth in the girls’ 800 meter final with a time of 2:21.68 and 11th in the girls’ 1600 meter final with a time of 5:29.01; Mikelle Monson finishing fourth in girls’ long jump at 15 feet, 11 inches and 12th in high jump at 4 feet, 11 inches; the Carbon girls’ 4×400 team finishing 12th with a time of 4:18.62; Caitlyn Dimick finishing 14th in girls’ discus and 15th in girls’ javelin; Shannon Baker finishing 13th in girls’ long jump; Jodi Noyes finishing 13th in girls’ shot put; and Emily Broadbear finishing 19th in the girls’ 3200 meter final.
On the boys’ side, Derek Hillam finished seventh and Kyle Quinton eighth in the boys’ long jump; the Carbon boys’ 4×400 team finished 16th with a time of 3:45.67; Hillam finished 18th in boys’ shot put, and Quinton finished 18th in boys’ discus.
