Helen Hawkins Syme

Helen Hawkins Syme, 77 of Fountain Green Utah, passed away Tuesday May 16, 2017 peacefully in her home. Born March 6, 1940 in Wellington, Utah to Harold Floyd Hawkins and Virginia M Draper Hawkins. She was one of five children. Helen grew up in Wellington Utah, later married Clayton Soren Syme of Moroni Utah on November 3, 1961. Together they ran a motel in Soldier Summit, Utah. They later moved to Fountain Green, Utah where they made their forever home. Together they had two children Katherine Syme Orton and JoAnn Syme Nay. Helen worked at Moroni Processing Plant in the cafeteria, laundry, and evis. She also enjoyed cooking the meals for Clayton and the shearing crew while they were shearing sheep in Jericho. In her pastime she enjoyed crocheting a variety of different things from dish rags to baby blankets, spending time with her family, and cooking, she always wanted to make sure that you never left hungry, as soon as you got to the house she was trying to feed you! Helen also enjoyed going to Mesquite Nevada with Clayton.
Helen was a member of the LDS church and serviced in many callings. She especially loved serving with her husband Clayton as Service Missionaries in the Bishops Storehouse in Moroni Ut.
Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Soren Syme; parents Harold Floyd Hawkins and Virginia M Draper Hawkins; siblings, Wesely Hawkins, Beverley Hawkins Motte, Billy Joe Hawkins; brother-in-law Gene Blackburn; nephew, Danny Joe Motte.
Survived by children, Katherine S. (Dennis) Orton, JoAnn S. (Jim) Nay, Marvin M. (Sherry) Syme, Spring Creek, Nevada; Gaylene (Kirby) Walker, Green River, Wyoming; Kenneth Lee Syme, Elko Nevada; sister, Carol Blackburn, Wellington, Utah; 8 Grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren
Funeral Services will be held Monday May 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ftn. Green Ward Chapel (151 South 200 West). Veiwings will be held Sunday May 21, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services, both at the church.
