PRICE, UT – William Lee Pilling known as “Bill or Grandpa B” passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Price, Utah at the age of 76. He married the love of his life, Anna May Parcell on his birthday at the young age of 18 in Orem, Utah. They raised three wonderful children. He loved everyone and his family was the center of his universe.
Bill was born October 4th, 1940 in Price, Utah to Woodrow Leon and Erma Burton Pilling. He was raised on the big Spring Ranch west of East Carbon City, Utah. Farming and ranching was his passion from the day he was born until the day he passed. His many talents and ambitions led him into various occupations such as a construction worker on the Lake Powell Dam in Page, Arizona, truck driver, mechanic and coal miner. One of his favorite occupations was being a mail carrier because he was able to be a farmer and haul mail at the same time. He met wonderful lifetime friends while hauling mail from Price to East Carbon.
Bill’s had many talents and hobbies. One of his greatest was his love for John Deere Tractors. Stories and joke telling was the highlight of his world. He loved teasing and making people laugh. Hobbies and talents included carpentry, wood working and panning for gold with his good buddy Gale. Grandpa B spent many hours making furniture for his family. He loved his grandkids more than life. They motivated him to make rocking chairs, high chairs, desks, and pen holders. He also made clocks, hutches and dinette sets.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna May Pilling; siblings Kent Pilling and Jeanne (Jim) Marrs; children, LeeAnn Pilling, Tina (John) Moynier and Lane (Lisa) Pilling; grandchildren, Crystal (Robert) Pilling; Joseph (Jenalee) Moynier; Beau (Amanda) Moynier, Anna Pilling, William Pilling and Dustin Parry; great grandchildren, Rory, Haylee, Kaibri, Rhett and Lilly.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Jack Clinton Pilling and Suzan Pilling.
Memorial service, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
