Thanks to the loyal subscribers of the Sun Advocate, we were able to donate a packed car full of food, litter, toys, collars and more to the Carbon County Animal Shelter. In April, the Sun Advocate ran a promotion, offering a discount on subscriptions with the donation of items for the animal shelter.
While the donations will help our furry friends until they find their forever homes for a little while, the animal shelter is always in need of donations. Food, treats and blankets are always happily accepted, but the shelter also needs cleaning supplies, which people tend to forget when donating. Spray bottles, liquid detergent, heating pads, 55 gallon garbage bags, and household cleaners disappear quite quickly when cleaning up after so many animals.
The animal shelter has 23 dog runs and can also house 50 to 60 cats. It also has two mama pens, along with the ability to care for miscellaneous animals that come through the area, like chinchillas and bunnies. They also have cattle pens, and can hold horses, sheep and goats.
