The Carbon High School baseball team earned a win in its final game of the regular season on Saturday, defeating Skyridge High School 12-1 in a non-region game.
The Dinos got out to a quick lead, scoring two runs in the first inning, on an RBI double by Gavin Robinett, who later scored on an error by the center fielder.
The Dinos tacked on three more runs in the third inning, on an RBI ground out by Jayden Flemett, and two errors by the infield.
Three more runs in the fourth extended the Dinos lead to eight, with Cody Lowe scoring on an error, Robinett scoring on an RBI fielder’s choice by Flemett, and an RBI single by Chase Morgan.
The Dinos scored one run in the fifth inning, and allowed Skyridge’s only run of the game in the bottom of the inning on an error. The Dinos added three more insurance runs in the sixth inning on a two-RBI double by Wyatt Wilson and an RBI double by Lowe.
Zac Bradley tossed three innings for the Dinos, only allowing two hits. Morgan pitched two innings and allowed no hits and no earned runs. Lowe pitched one inning and struck out one, while allowing no hits and no runs to cross the plate.
Robinett went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI. Lowe went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI.
The Dinos will begin the 3A State Tournament this weekend, facing Desert Hills High School Saturday at Park City High School at 1:30 p.m.
