The Carbon High School softball team dominated its game against Emery High School last Wednesday, with the help of a 10-run third inning, and the Dinos earned the 15-1 win.
The Dinos took an early lead, with two runs in the first inning and two runs in the second. Emery scored its only run in the third inning on a solo home run, but a huge third inning by the Dinos all but erased the one run.
After Dekota Kraushaar started out the inning with a walk, Cali Fossat hit a two-run home run. Mckenna Pendergrass hit an RBI single and later scored on an error. Kaytlyn Cripps hit an RBI single and Mckenna Sorenson hit into an RBI ground out, before the Dinos began their second round through the lineup in the inning. Kraushaar hit an RBI double, Fossat hit an RBI single, and Pendergrass hit an RBI single to finish out the Dinos 10 runs.
The Dinos scored one more run in the fourth inning for good measure, an RBI line out by M. Sorenson. Emery was unable to muster enough runs to keep the game going and the Dinos won 15-1.
Fossat went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Dinos, with a home run and three RBI. Cripps went 4-for-4 with one RBI and Pendergrass went 2-for-2 with three RBI.
The Dinos will began the first rounds of the 3A State Tournament on Saturday. Carbon will travel to Cedar High School to face Cedar City at 10 a.m.
