‘Dew Drops’ best of show Lauren Wilkinson

Lauren Wilkinson of Price won Best of Show for her photo “Dew Drop” at USU Eastern’s Student Art Show.
Eight students were honored with cash awards and certificates at the annual show during the closing reception on April 27.
Artistic talent apparently runs in Lauren’s family. Her mother, Kelly, is production manager for the Sun Advocate and Emery County Progress and recently won first place in Utah Press Association competition for advertising design.
Other student winners included Sam Hall, Springville, who won first place for her ceramic sculpture “Copperized;” while Riley Crismore, Price, won second for his drawing titled “Oscuro.” Another photographer, Sadie Watson, Price, won third place for her photo titled, “Look Up.”
Honorable mentions went to Kyler Atkinson, Riverton, for his photo “Nature Close Up;” Rachel Hall, Price, for her silver wire sculpture titled “Hand#1;” Kyla Williams, Sandy, for her ceramic sculpture “Leather Book” and Pam Rodriquez, Price, for her oil painting “Apples in a Bowl.”
Art department chair Noel Carmack said, “We were very pleased with the entries this year. Our students produced exceptional work in all the art disciplines that are taught at the college. It was extremely difficult to choose our award winners. All of our students should be proud of the creative work they produced last year in our classes.”
