An early lead by the Falcons led Canyon View to a victory over the Carbon High School baseball team on Friday, sweeping the Dinos in the three-game series.
Carbon started the game with a run in the first inning, with Jayden Flemett hitting an RBI double. However, the Falcons scored two in the first and two in the second to take a 4-1 lead.
Carbon brought the game within two with a run in the third on an RBI single by Chase Morgan, and even closer with a run in the fifth, on an RBI sacrifice fly by Gavin Robinett. However, in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Falcons extended their lead by two runs, and by even more with five runs in the sixth inning. Despite two runs in the top of the seventh for the Dinos, scored on an RBI double by Robinett and an RBI single by Morgan, Carbon fell to Canyon View 11-5.
The Dinos tallied 11 hits in the game, Flemett, Morgan, Robinett and Ty Anderson with two each.
The Dinos will play an Alumni game Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Legion field in Helper. The game will consist of ex-Carbon High and Helper American Legion players facing-off against the current Carbon High Varsity squad.
