PRICE-Mary Alice Aguayo Garcia, affectionately known as “Grandma Alice”, passed away April 25, 2017 at her beloved Castleview Hospital.
She was born May 15, 1949 in Price, Utah to Joseph R. Aguayo, Sr. and Emily Silva. Married Edward Garcia, February 13, 1982 in Sunnyside, Utah; Eddie passed away February 8, 2001.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and a dedicated employee of Koret of California for over 30 years where she served as the Union President. When the plant closed, she returned to school and received her Associates Degree in Applied Science and a Certificate in Office Computer Systems from the College of Eastern Utah. Mary Alice also worked at the Castleview Hospital Emergency Room as an Administrative Clerk for ten years. During this time she also took a job at Peczuh Printing for fun; this quickly became her main source of fun and entertainment.
Mary lived her life to provide for family. She absolutely loved cooking, baking and most importantly making tortillas with her grandchildren every chance she got. She was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed making costumes, quilts and bag ladies. She is the source of many great memories with her contagious smile and love for life and her family. She was loved by all a beloved, beautiful, strong, hard working woman that above all loved her family beyond all measure.
She is survived by her children, Frances Aguayo, Price, Lucas Garcia, Price, Korina Garcia, Salt Lake; four sisters and two brothers, Anita Salazar, Price, Isabel Vega, Helper, Joseph (Mae) Aguayo, Jr., Edgewood, NM, Emilio (Mary) Aguayo, Rita (Pete) Elkface, Erlinda (John) Espinoza, all of Price; mother-in-law, Sally Garcia, Price; three grandchildren, Rhiannon Aguayo, Lucas and Leah Garcia; great-granddaughter, Emma Brooks; and many loving nieces and nephews that treasured her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant siblings; and brother-in-law, Roman Vega.
Funeral Mass, Saturday, April 29, 2017, 10:00 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Friday evening 7:00 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Friday and Saturday one hour prior to service. Committal service, Cliffview Cemetery.
