East Carbon’s little league will have fresh dirt provided for their fields and their scoreboard refurbished thanks to East Carbon City. The city council voted unanimously at Tuesday’s meeting to provide the dirt needed to build up the bases and cover the infield of the little league fields for East Carbon Rec. They are also providing funds to put new lights and a fresh coat of paint on the scoreboard. Donald McCarty, East Carbon resident and head of the East Carbon Rec, volunteered the labor for the project.
At the same meeting, a business license was granted to Calvary Church for a thrift store. Pastor Michael Cowan is head of this ministry and the church. The city council agreed to waive the license fee for the non-profit business. All the funds raised from the thrift store go back to fund other ministries for the church as well as funding community outreach. The church provides meals for families in need, especially during the holidays. They also donate clothing and other items for free to families in crisis.
