Lady Dino Golf faces rough week

By Sun Advocate

Carbon High School’s Lady Dino Golf Team had a rough week, with a third place finish at last week’s Region tournament, at Sleepy Ridge on April 4, and a last place finish in the Basin Cup, held at Carbon Country Club on April 6.
In cold and windy conditions, Carbon made 214 points to first place Juab’s 255 and second place Richfield’s 221. Laini Davis led Carbon with 61 points, Jordan Bianco 59, Sam King 48 and Gwyn Kardelis 46.
The Basin Cup is an annual tournament between Uintah, Carbon and Spanish Fork, rotating the tournament site between the three schools. Uintah won with a score of 274, Spanish Fork 227 and Carbon 199. Laini Davis again led Carbon with 54 points, Gwyn Kardelis 53, Sam King 48 and Jordan Bianco 44.
“We laid down at Sleepy,” said head coach Kenji Otani of the Lady Dinos’ performances. “We should have challenged more. Laini battled through some swing issues and Jordan came up big for the team. The Basin Cup… I’m not even sure what happened, sometimes it is just one of those days. The girls didn’t quit though and they fought for every point, which shows definite character.”
