An hour-long interruption in electrical service on Friday evening left thousands without power and led to some congestion in downtown Price as motorists treated traffic lights as four-way stops.
Rocky Mountain Power spokeswoman Margaret Ohler said the outage affected 994 Rocky Mountain Power customers in Price and 1,268 RMP customers in Wellington. Thousands more Price City Utility customers were also affected.
Ohler said the power was lost at 5:52 p.m. on a transmission line between Price and the Mathis Substation near the Coal Creek Loop Road. Crews patrolled the line but couldn’t find a problem, although they reported heavy rain in the area at the time.
She said the circuit breaker at the substation was closed to restore the flow of electricity just before 7:00 p.m., “and it held.”
