Motorists driving on US 6 near the Price Canyon Recreation Area north of Helper may notice smoke coming from the wooded area. It is not a wild fire, but a prescribed burn of slash piles by the Bureau of Land Management. Fire mitigation and education specialist Chris Asbjorn said the 60-acre burn is intended to reduce fuel and enhance habitat.
