The Carbon High School baseball team used late-inning hits to overcome Grand County High School on Saturday with a 6-2 win.
The Dinos fell behind after two innings, with Grand County leading 2-0. However, a two-run home run by senior Jayden Flemmett in the fourth inning tied the game, and the Dinos tok a two-run lead in the top of the fifth inning on an RBI double by sophomore Ty Anderson, who scored on an error later in the inning.
The Dinos were able to hold Grand County scoreless through the rest of the game, while also tacking on two more runs in the top of the seventh inning, on RBI doubles by senior Gavin Robinett and senior Cody Lowe.
Senior Chase Morgan started the game on the mound for the Dinos, allowing just one hit through five innings of work. While two runs crossed the plate in those five innings, neither were earned. Junior Zac Bradley entered the game in the sixth inning, and struck out two in his two innings of work.
Lowe ended the day 3-for-4 at the plate, with a double and one RBI. Flemmett went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBI. Anderson and Robinett each went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI.
The Dinos evened their record to 4-4 overall with the victory. Carbon will play host to Union High School on Wednesday with first pitch slated for 3 p.m.
