PRICE, UT — James Stanley Hansen, 85, passed away Saturday March 18th, 2017.
Born and raised in Price on July 23, 1931 the son of James Joseph Stanley Hansen and Marie Elvira (Oliver), he was a lifelong resident of Price.
A depression era baby, at 17, he joined the army, completing a tour in Germany during the Korean War where he became fluent in German in addition to his native Dutch and English. After returning, he worked as a machinist for many years. He worked all night and attended Carbon College all day, graduating with a degree in Engineering. Shortly afterwards he took a Job as a surveyor with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). After retirement, he spent the rest of his life wood working in his shop that he called Sawdust Unlimited behind his home.
James had a love for nature, wildlife, and being outdoors in general. He passed those loves onto his children and grandchildren. He often spent his time outdoors hiking and fishing and arrowhead hunting with his dog Elka.
James shared a love of gardening and passion for woodworking in his woodshop. He showed his children and grandchildren the pride and joy that comes from working with your hands.
He leaves his wife, Margaret, his sons James and Eric, and his daughter Cindi; fifteen grandchildren; and many close friends.
