COLUMBIA-Jesse “Shep” Byron Shepherd, 81, owner and operator of the Sunny Bowl and Shepherds Café passed away February 15, 2017 at his home with his loving wife Barbara right by his side.
He was born February 2, 1936 in Harper Ward, Utah to Theodore “Ted” Shepherd and Violet Jensen. Married Barbara Ann Ream, December 23, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Shep” owned his own tire shop, the Sunny Bowl and Shepherds Cafe. He was also a cross country truck driver, machinist, coal miner and former employee of U.D.O.T. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley and four wheeler, medal detecting, runs with his dog, and getaways to Wendover with Barb. He loved working alongside his beloved wife in their shop, Shepherds Café.
Survived by his wife, Barbara Shepherd of 60 years; sons, Les (Sandy) Shepherd, Springville, Wes (Johna) Shepherd, Price; half-sisters, Connie Hawks and Georgia Henry of Logan; half-brother, John Shepherd of Canada; grandchildren, Eric Shepherd, Jeremy Shepherd, Rachel Sanchez, Colton Shepherd, Samantha Shepherd and 12 great-grandchildren. Some of his fondest memories were spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A viewing for Shep will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017, from 11:00-12:00 p.m. at the East Carbon LDS Ward. Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery in Sunnyside, Utah.
