The Pinnacle High School boys’ basketball team lost to Monument Valley High School on Saturday in the final seconds of the game, after earning its first lead of the game with less than a minute remaining.
The Panthers worked back from a 53-46 deficit at the end of the third quarter to tie the game at 61 with less than a minute remaining in the game. Monument Valley took a one-point lead, but Kaden Daughters made an easy layup to give Pinnacle the slight lead. However, a costly foul with less than one second remaining sent a Monument Valley player to the line to shoot three free throws, all of which he made, putting the Cougars up 65-63. With .7 seconds remaining in the game, the Panthers were not able to get a decent shot up and fell to Monument Valley.
The Panthers fall to 6-14 overall and 3-5 in Region 19 play after the loss.
