The USU Eastern women’s basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss on Thursday night, falling to the Snow College Badgers by one point in the last half second of the game.
The Eagles led the Badgers 65-64 in the last few seconds. What looked to be the final play of the game was blown dead as the buzzer rang out, but after officials conversed, one half of a second was put back on the clock. The Badgers inbounded the ball and sunk a jump shot as the buzzer rang, once again, this time officially ending the game as the Snow College players rushed the court.
The Eagles had trailed to start the game, behind 22-15 after the first quarter. However, they picked up their pace of play before the halftime break and led the game 32-28 after two quarters. The Eagles led after the third quarter and through the fourth quarter, until the Badgers sunk some key shots.
The Eagles also lost to College of Southern Idaho 67-60 over the weekend. USUE drops to 9-11 overall and 1-7 in SWAC play this season. The Eagles will travel to Salt Lake Community College for their next match-up.
