The Carbon High School boys’ basketball team was on the losing side of a well-fought battle against North Sanpete High School on Friday, falling to the Hawks 61-46.
The Dinos kept the game close through the first half, trailing by just six points at the end of the first quarter, then tying the game at 19 about halfway through the second quarter. The Hawks tacked on a few points to take back the lead, and the Dinos went into halftime trailing 31-25.
The Hawks began to creep further ahead in the third quarter and went into the final period leading 45-33. Despite some key three-point shots in the fourth quarter that kept the Dinos in the game, Carbon was not able to come out on top.
In the loss, senior Kyle Quinton led the Dinos with 17 points, and senior Chase Morgan followed closely with 15 points, including four three-pointers.
The loss pushed the Dinos under .500 on the season at 9-10 overall and 2-3 in Region 12 play. The Dinos will hit the road to play at Richfield High School on Wednesday, then at Canyon View on Friday.
