Volunteers needed for ‘No Grave Unadorned’

By Sun Advocate

Memorial Day is just hours away, and the effort to leave at least one flower on every grave in Carbon and Emery Counties is moving along.
According to Cheryl Young, who is coordinating the project for the Sun Advocate this year, it looks like there will be enough artificial flowers. However, a few more volunteers would assure that those flowers are placed in time.
People who want to spend a a little time doing some light work can drop by the Sun Advocate at 845 East Main in Price, or call 435-637-0732 to learn where decorating remains to be done.
This is the seventh year for the project.
During that time, hundreds of volunteers of all ages have produced and planted many thousands of plastic flowers. Many of the graves they visit are worn to the point of illegibility, but each receives a touch of dignity and rembrance.
Those who decorate also get an appreciation for the diversity of names, and also – by noting the number of childhood deaths – a feeling for the hardships that those who came before endured.
