Lieb Dee Miller, 81 passed away at his home in Pleasant Grove, Utah on May 23, 2016. His earthly angel and wife of 60 years, Sharon Verline Miller was at his side to comfort him through his final moments here on earth.
Lieb “Dee” was born on April 21, 1935 in Price, Utah to Gottlieb and Gretsel Miller. He went to school in Price and graduated in 1953 from Carbon High School. Thereafter, he joined the armed services and was stationed at Presidio Army Base in San Francisco, Ca., where he met Sharon Fox, from Sacramento. After his Army service in Europe they married. He attended Carbon College (USU Eastern) in 1956. Dee then attended Sacramento State University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structures.
Dee moved to Utah and worked as an engineer and manager for Chicago Bridge and Iron, the Forest Service, and Emery Mining Corporation. He retired to his basement office where he did structural engineering for clients throughout the state until his death.
Dee and Sharon raised 6 children, 23 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.
Dee was a member of the LDS faith. He loved reading and studying about church history and he worked in the Mount Timpanogos Temple for 5 years. He was very adventurous and had numerous hobbies and interests that kept him active throughout his life, especially golf.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, their children Kimberly Joyner (Mike), Scott Miller (Lesa), Mark Miller, Sheryl Kitchen (Todd), Jenny Miller (Flo), and Kurt Miller (Sheline), and his sister Connie Hansen (Jerry).
He is proceeded in death by his father (Gottlieb), mother (Gretsel Guymon), and, brothers (Hans and Louis) Miller.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Northfield Third Ward Chapel, 2195 North 100 East, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery,1777 S Dixie Dr, St George on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 90.
