Carbon High School’s Lady Dino Golf Team placed 13th at the 3A State Tournament last week. The Girls’ Golf squad played the Gold Course, at Soldier Hollow Golf Course last Wednesday for State. Sixteen 3A teams gathered for the two day championship, with a cut to the top ten, after the first day. Desert Hills won the title with a two day score of 610 points. Park City was second at 604 and Dixie was third with 565. Carbon missed the cut at 192 points finishing thirteenth. Lexi Garcia made 53, Indie Gardner 47, Aubrey Fausett 47 and Laini Davis 45.
“Soldier’s Gold Course is a very good test of golf,” said head coach Kenji Otani. “Usually, a team needs to make at least 280 to make the cut, this year it was 237. My girls gave it their best and I know they felt like they let me and themselves down, but they played with heart and I am proud of them. Thank you girls.”
