A small storm cell dumped a cascade of marble-sized hailstones on the Carbon Golf Course and a short stretch of Highway 6 Monday afternoon.
About 30 golfers had to take a break until the inch or so of icy pellets melted. The ice lingers longer on areas where the grass is shorter because there is less air flower beneath, according to club pro Tom King. Meanwhile, snowplows had to remove the hazardous coating from the highway. There were a few skids and slide-offs.
