Two Salt Lake-area boys were arrested and booked into the Carbon County Youth Detention Center on May 7 in connection with a burglary spree of cabins at the Bolotas Subdivision in Scofield.
According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, the duo were staying with some other juveniles in a friend’s grandfather’s cabin when they decided to break into at least five cabins, taking electronics, alcohol and hunting gear. Deputies Jonathan Mangum and William Marinoni interviewed and arrested the suspects, and identified several cabins that had been damaged by forced entry.
The charges against the suspects are burglary and criminal mischief, both second-degree felonies, and theft, a third-degree felony. Damage to cabins in estimated at $6,000 and estimated value of stolen items is $2,500.
Two Sheriff’s detectives are checking other properties in the Scofield area for damage to doors and windows. Property owners are advised to check their cabins for damage or missing property.
