May is Archaeology Month and the USU Prehistoric Museum is observing the occasion with lectures in the museum classroom and a Family Activity Day event.
The first lecture was May 3 and was titled, “Rock Art of the Utes in Nine Mile Canyon and Beyond,” by Layne Miller
The second lecture is May 6 at 7:00 pm and will be a Paleontology double feature “Why Giraffes Have Such Long Necks” and “ Why Elephants Are So Small” lectures by paleontologists Mathew Wedel, Western University of Health Sciences, and Mike Taylor, University of Bristol. Both of these short talks will focus on the long-necked Sauropod infraorder of dinosaurs.
The lecture is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
Family Activity Day will be Saturday, May 7, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
There will be free admission to the museum all day.
Kids activities run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
A telescope will be available in the Peace Gardens as well as other activities and demonstrations.
