The Castle Valley Center’s Troop 855 marked 264 months – 22 years – of affiliation with the Boy Scouts of America at its Court of Honor Thursday. “It’s a pleasure to have them as part of scouting,” said Jim Bethel, Field Director for east and central Utah. “They have special leaders and they are special scouts.”
The troop has earned the gold level in scouting’s Journey to Excellence program because of its service hours and trained leaders.
In addition to earning merit badges and advancement in rank, the CVC scouts take part in many community service projects in the area.
John Huefner has been scoutmaster of Troop 855 for many years and Christine Pettit is assistant scoutmaster.
