CHS history students show projects at Legislature

By Sun Advocate

January 28 was Utah History Day. Six students from Carbon High School, all freshman competitors when they participated in the 2015 History Fair, took their projects up to the State Capitol Building and showcased them in the rotunda for the legislators and Capitol visitors to see.
Zoey Kourianos, Katie Snow , and Mersedez Clifford shared a video of their performance, “Otto Von Bismarck: Creator of the Europe We Know.” Luke Hansen shared a website he created, “The Crusade of Utah Microbiologist Joseph E. Greaves.” Luke’s project was a national finalist at the National History Fair last summer. Abigail Layton impressed many legislators with the website she created entitled, “Steven Hawking: His Legacy Through Science.” Finally, Shannon Baker shared a documentary movie she created, “Amelia Earhart: An Inspiration in the Air.”
Carbon County had the largest showing of all state school districts with six students. Students were able to meet state senators and legislators including Sen. David Hinkins and Rep. Brad King; they were treated to a greeting with Governor Herbert and a tour of the State Capitol Building.
