The Carbon High School boys’ basketball team fell to 3-4 in Region 12 play after two losses last week, including a home loss on Senior Night.
The Dinos honored their six senior basketball players on Wednesday night: Kasey Moynier, Mitch Olson, Anthony Maclean, Brad Williams, Cole Fossat and Peyton Fausett. However, even with their most experienced athletes on the court, the Dinos were not able to pull out a win over Richfield High School. Carbon trailed throughout the whole exchange, falling behind by as many as 11 points. By the end of the game, the Dinos had pulled within seven points, but were not able to close the gap any further and lost 57-50.
While the seniors started the game for the Dinos, it was junior Kyle Quinton who led the team offensively with 13 points, going 6-9 from the field and 1-2 from the free throw line. Senior Mitch Olson followed with eight points, going 3-8 from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line. Olson also led the team in rebounds with seven, two offensive and five defensive.
After losing at home, the Dinos’ road game against Canyon View High School proved even more important for their hopes of making the State Tournament, but they again could not pull out the win. The Dinos lost the game 61-51, again trailing throughout the entire exchange. Seniors Brad Williams and Peyton Fausett led the team with 10 points each, Williams going 3-11 from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line and Fausett going 5-7 from the field. Olson again led in rebounds with nine, one offensive and eight defensive.
The Dinos will play their last game of the season on the road against Juab High School on Friday.
