8 – Elections bring in new faces

By Sun Advocate

November was a good time to run as a newcomer to municipal public office. Although turnout was light, those who did vote caused a shift in representation in some cities.
The majority of the Helper City Council – three members – are all first-time winners of elective office. Thomas Williams, Amanda Wheeler and David Dornan will take their oaths Jan. 4.
Newcomers at East Carbon are Chuck Abeyta and Ruby Cordova. David Avery, Barbara Robinett and Philip Holt were reelected.
In Price, council members Wayne Clausing, Rick Davis and Layne Miller ran unopposed, and were re-elected to four-year terms.
Wellington voters elected three city council members. Paula Noyes returned to the Wellington City Council after a few years away. Glen Wells and Marvon Willson retained their seats.
County voters also approved a 0.25 percent increase in sales tax, except for food, to help fund road improvements.
Phil Palmer, former General Manager of the Price River Water Improvement District, was elected to the board.
