3 – Troubles in law enforcement

By Sun Advocate

Former Sheriff James Cordova pleaded guilty to misuse of public funds for using a county credit card and county-issued vehicle and trailer for personal moving expenses. The May 26 issue reported that he received a three-year plea in abeyance in Seventh Judicial District Court. Cordova was just weeks away from retirement at the end of 2014 when an investigation uncovered the misappropriation.
In another law enforcement matter, county emergency operations coordinator Jason Llewelyn is facing 20 counts of misuse of public funds in the Seventh Judicial District and a similar indictment in Federal District Court. Llewelyn has entered a plea of not guilty to the federal charge. He was recently defeated in a reelection bid for Helper City Council.
