The chicken-sized Greater Sage Grouse is not going to be put on the Endangered Species List, according to the Interior Department. A joint effort by agriculturalists, energy producers and state and local government agencies led to habitat enhancements that are expected to preserve population numbers.
Staying off the endangered list is no small matter. The birds are happy that they have a better chance of surviving and humans are pleased that managed economic activity can coexist in the general vicinity.
