Former Carbon County residents from all over the country are using social media to share memories of Sally Maryboy, who died on Christmas Day at the age of 79. She is being remembered as a teacher at Notre Dame Catholic School, mentor and friend:
“My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mrs. Maryboy. What a wonderful woman,” wrote Jennifer Paloni on Saturday to start the ongoing Facebook conversation.
“She knew just how to connect with each child she taught,” said Ronnetta Paletta Wade of Alabama
Brione Berneche Pattison of North Carolina added, “We were all very lucky to have known Mrs. Maryboy. She taught us all so much more than just academics. She was one of the most influential and important teachers I ever had.”
Pat Boyack of Texas said, “I would not be the person I am today without Mrs. Maryboy. She taught me so much.”
Rachelle Koss Yeates of California wrote, “She had such a positive influence on all of our lives, it’s one of the reasons I received my teaching credential. Lol….I can still remember how to sing 10 little Indians in Navajo.”
Mrs. Maryboy moved to Price with her family in 1969. She taught at Durrant Elementary School for three years, and then spent the next 28 years teaching and mentoring at Notre Dame Catholic School. Her obituary is on page 11A.
